{"id":29757,"date":"2023-08-11T11:31:03","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T09:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/su-gologone\/"},"modified":"2023-11-29T09:23:34","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T08:23:34","slug":"su-gologone","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/su-gologone\/","title":{"rendered":"Su Gologone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Su Gologone<\/strong> spring pops up in the <strong>Supramonte di Oliena<\/strong>, an area rich in <strong>nature<\/strong>, <strong>archaeology<\/strong> and <strong>geology<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThanks to its the plentiful flow which reaches 10,000 l\/s when at its fullest, it is the most important spring in Sardinia. In <strong>1998,<\/strong> it was given <strong>Natural Monument<\/strong> status.<\/p>\n<p>Its unusual conformation is what makes it so appealing. Flowing out from a crack in the <strong>limestone rock<\/strong>, the water fills the recesses between the rocky walls, forming what could seem like a picturesque lake.<br \/>\nIts charming colours which range from turquoise to green, conceal a secret: the depth of these waters is still unknown.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to this feature, <strong>Su Gologone<\/strong> attracts <strong>speleo scuba divers<\/strong> from all over the world. In 2010, the Italian,<strong> Alberto Cavedon<\/strong> touched the bottom at a depth of <strong>-135 metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A creek stems off from the spring, flowing through vegetation until it joins the <strong>Cedrino river<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From April to September, you can hire a <em>kayak<\/em> directly from the Su Gologone Park and navigate the <em>canyon<\/em> created by the river. In the area around the spring, you can stop off for a picnic in the shade of the forest of <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> and <strong>eucalyptus<\/strong>.
