{"id":29659,"date":"2023-08-03T11:54:19","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T09:54:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/feraxi-beach-and-pond\/"},"modified":"2023-11-08T11:07:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T10:07:32","slug":"feraxi-beach-and-pond","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/feraxi-beach-and-pond\/","title":{"rendered":"Feraxi Beach and Pond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Feraxi<\/strong> is an area along the coast of <strong>Muravera<\/strong>, in the historical region of <strong>Sarrabus<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Sud Sardegna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>wetland<\/strong> is part of the <strong>Colostrai pond system<\/strong>, linked to the <strong>reclamation work<\/strong> in the area and deviation of the <strong>Rio Picocca<\/strong>, which took place between <strong>1945-50<\/strong>.<br \/>\nNowadays, this area is a <strong><em>natural<\/em> habitat<\/strong> for different <strong>aquatic birds<\/strong> such as <strong>cormorants<\/strong>, <strong>black-winged stilts<\/strong> and <strong>pink flamingos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>beach<\/strong> extends for almost <strong>3 kilometres<\/strong>, cordoned off to the south by the <strong>rocky coast<\/strong> of the <strong>Capo Ferrato promontory<\/strong> and its coves, and to the north by the <strong>Feraxi Pond outlet<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe <strong>sandy shore<\/strong> features <strong>cream-coloured fine sand<\/strong>, with <strong>shades of bronze<\/strong>, surrounded by <strong>low dunes<\/strong>. The <strong>seabeds<\/strong> are <strong>low<\/strong> and <strong>gently slope<\/strong> out to sea.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>beach<\/strong> offers <strong>parking<\/strong>, a <strong>kiosk-bar<\/strong> and <strong>bathing facilities<\/strong>.
