{"id":29640,"date":"2023-08-03T11:50:01","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T09:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/foresta-di-uatzo\/"},"modified":"2023-11-08T09:44:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T08:44:07","slug":"foresta-di-uatzo","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/foresta-di-uatzo\/","title":{"rendered":"Foresta di Uatzo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Uatzo Forest<\/strong> lies in the municipality of <strong>Tonara<\/strong>, in the historical region of <strong>Barbagia<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Nuoro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a <strong>forestry compound<\/strong> extending across approximately <strong>782 hectares<\/strong>,\u00a0with the lowest altitude at 486 m a.s.l., the <strong>rio Is Putzos<\/strong> up to the highest altitude 1,495 m a.s.l. of the <strong>Conca Giuanne Fais<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The forest extends across <strong>porphyritic rocks<\/strong> with <strong>schistose soils<\/strong> and <strong>underlayers<\/strong> and consists mainly of <strong>holm oak<\/strong> <strong>trees<\/strong> grouped with <strong>chestnut<\/strong> and <strong>downy oak<\/strong>, as well as the various <strong>shrub<\/strong> essences.<\/p>\n<p>Different <strong>animal<\/strong> species live there including the <strong>boar<\/strong>. The <strong>birds of prey<\/strong> include the <strong>golden eagle<\/strong>, <strong>Bonelli\u2019s eagle<\/strong> and the <strong>peregrine falcon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There are numerous <strong>equipped areas<\/strong> for stop-offs in the forest, <strong>as well as springs<\/strong> and <strong>paths<\/strong>. There are a number of <strong>walks<\/strong> marked with <strong>sign posts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Uatzo forest<\/strong> is crossed by the <strong>old railway line<\/strong> where the &#8220;<strong>green train<\/strong>\u201d travels along.
