{"id":29442,"date":"2023-07-26T13:00:41","date_gmt":"2023-07-26T11:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/historical-neighbourhood-of-stampace\/"},"modified":"2023-08-07T15:58:07","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T13:58:07","slug":"historical-neighbourhood-of-stampace","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/historical-neighbourhood-of-stampace\/","title":{"rendered":"Historical neighbourhood of Stampace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Stampace<\/strong>, enclosed between the neighbourhoods of Castello, Marina, Tuvixeddu and Sant\u2019Avendrace, is the largest of the <strong>historical neighbourhoods<\/strong> in the city of Cagliari.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Roman amphitheatre<\/strong> and <strong>Villa Tigellio<\/strong> bear witness to the use of the area as early as the Roman era; that said, it was under <strong>Pisan occupation<\/strong> in the XII century that the neighbourhood was expanded. Initially, the Pisans used the area to welcome refugees from nearby Santa Igia, capital of the giudicato of Cagliari; the neighbourhood housed artisan workshops, merchants and small middle-class homes.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>XIX century,<\/strong> the modest <strong>wall enclosure<\/strong> built by the Pisans for the district was <strong>demolished<\/strong> together with those of the Marina and Villanova.
