The upper part of the structure and the overhead structure was restored in the 1950s, renovating a part of the stonework, but not rebuilding <strong>the cupola<\/strong> which enclosed the well. It presents a typical<strong> \u201ckeyhole\u201d<\/strong> shape with <strong> steps<\/strong> which narrow as they reach water level, and above a \u201c<strong>reverse staircase<\/strong>\u201d which acts as a roof for the chamber.<\/p>\n<p>A series of<strong> buildings from the Punic era<\/strong> were built not far from here, probably linked to the rituals performed in the area. These buildings continued to be used <strong>even in Roman times<\/strong>. The rural church dedicated to Santa Cristina and the cumbessias surrounding it, probably continued with the site\u2019s holy tradition up to the current day.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the trunk road SS 131 from Paulilatino for around 4 km. Turn right here at the exit for the compound marked with signs.
