{"id":29297,"date":"2023-07-14T15:05:07","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T13:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/the-beach-at-lucaise\/"},"modified":"2023-07-18T11:46:55","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T09:46:55","slug":"the-beach-at-lucaise","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/the-beach-at-lucaise\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucaise beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Located to the <strong>south<\/strong> of <strong>Isola di San Pietro<\/strong>, in the gulf between <strong>Punta delle Colonne<\/strong> and <strong>Punta Geni\u00f2<\/strong>, in the municipality of <strong>Carloforte<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>beach of Lucaise<\/strong> (or <strong>beach of the Lucchese<\/strong>) is a small cove with sandy shore consisting of <strong>large-grain sand<\/strong> and <strong>pebbles<\/strong>. The cove is surrounded by <strong>cliffs<\/strong> and <strong>emerging rocks<\/strong> and by <strong>small caverns<\/strong> opening out to the east and accessible from the beach.<\/p>\n<p>As well as its colours featuring clear rocks and turquoise blue waters, the beach is also of geological importance.<br \/>\nWe can find <strong>different lithologies<\/strong> here with a variety of forms and the presence of a <strong>fossil geyser<\/strong>. This <strong>geological site<\/strong> is easily recognisable by its <strong>white rocks <\/strong>which emerge from the <strong>grey-coloured vulcanites<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis particular geological structure which is <strong>unique to Sardinia<\/strong>, formed after the <strong>release of overheated waters<\/strong> and <strong>steam from underground sources<\/strong> (<strong>hydrothermal processes<\/strong>) in the Early <strong>Miocene<\/strong> period (around16 million years ago).<\/p>\n<p>The cove can be reached, after leaving your car in a car park, along a <strong>path<\/strong> which stretches over the cliff and drops down to the beach via a flight of steps.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>natural monument<\/strong> of the <strong>Colonne<\/strong> can be seen to the east, and the <strong>island of Geni\u00f2<\/strong> to the west.<\/p>\n<p>The beach with its fossil geyser is legally protected and, as with the entire island, is part of the <strong>Sites of Community Importance<\/strong> (SCI) \u201c<strong>Isola di San Pietro<\/strong>\u201d (ITB040027).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":9817,"template":"","tipologia":[1038,988],"categoria":[1022],"tematica":[1031],"class_list":["post-29297","place","type-place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tipologia-geological-site","tipologia-spiaggia-en","categoria-naturalistic-asset","tematica-nature"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Lucaise beach - Idese<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/the-beach-at-lucaise\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_GB\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Lucaise beach - Idese\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Located to the south of Isola di San Pietro, in the gulf between Punta delle Colonne and Punta Geni\u00f2, in the municipality of Carloforte.
