Its <strong>imposing size<\/strong> and extensive facade dominate the <strong>narrow street<\/strong> it looks out onto.<\/p>\n<p>The current-day building was built on a previous church from the XII century named after Our Lady. The church underwent a series of works and structural changes, like the <strong>restoration work<\/strong> at the start of the <strong>Nineteenth century<\/strong> carried out by the architect from Bosa, Salvatore Are and the architect Ramelli from Sassari. The Duomo was <strong>consecrated<\/strong> in <strong>1809<\/strong>, although the internal decoration work was only completed at the end of the century.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>facade<\/strong> has <strong>Baroque aspects<\/strong>, and is entirely plastered except for the structural and decorative elements in red trachyte. The facade vertically <strong>divided into three parts<\/strong> by pilasters and half-pilasters, hosts the <strong>portal<\/strong> in the central transom; this is dominated by a lavishly decorated cornice with <strong>spirals<\/strong> and in the upper order by a <strong>large window<\/strong> with the <strong>Immaculate Conception<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, we find a large, barrel-vaulted <strong>single nave<\/strong>, onto which opens up <strong>four side chapels<\/strong> and the transept, in turn divided into 4 smaller chapels.<\/p>\n<p>In the presbytery, rounded off with a <strong>semi-circular apse<\/strong>, we find the seventeenth-century <strong>high altar<\/strong> surrounded by <strong>sculptures<\/strong> of the <strong>Immaculate Conception<\/strong> and <strong>saints Emilio and Priamo<\/strong>, patron saints of Bosa.
