{"id":29207,"date":"2023-07-06T11:42:11","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T09:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/cala-mariolu\/"},"modified":"2023-07-07T13:06:02","modified_gmt":"2023-07-07T11:06:02","slug":"cala-mariolu","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/cala-mariolu\/","title":{"rendered":"Cala Mariolu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the <strong>Golfo di Orosei<\/strong>, in the district of <strong>Baunei<\/strong> sits one of the most charming beaches along this stretch of the island\u2019s coastline.<br \/>\n<strong>Cala Mariolu<\/strong> has two minor inlets, separated by a small ayre.<\/p>\n<p>The beach has very small <strong>white pebbles<\/strong>, smoothed by the action of the sea.\u00a0The original name of the area is \u201c<strong>Ispuligi de n\u00ece<\/strong>\u201d which means <strong>snow dust<\/strong>, in precise reference to the colour and shape of its sand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Limestone cliffs<\/strong> rise up around the beach and inside you will find a small cave, often used as shelter against the sun in the morning. While in the afternoon, the beach is in the shade, protected by the cliffs.<\/p>\n<p>The beach can be easily <strong>reached from the sea<\/strong>. Over land, however, it is essential to follow a long path which branches off from the route known as <strong>Selvaggio Blu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is also possible to stop off along the route at the <strong>Cala dei Gabbiani<\/strong>, considered the southern part of the Cala Mariolu. This is a stretch of coastline extending for around 400 metres, separated from the main beach by some rocks. This beach also has a<strong> white sand and shingle<\/strong> shore and the <strong>waters are clear and clean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though it is difficult to walk along, the path gives you an opportunity to enjoy other important naturalistic elements. For example, you would cross the <strong>Serra Lattone<\/strong>, a passage of high walls of limestone origin which rise up steeply from the <strong>Ispuligi de nie wood<\/strong>.
