The beach of Berchida<\/strong> is in the area of the town of Siniscola<\/strong>, in the historical region of the Baronia<\/strong>, on the eastern coast of Sardinia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The sandy shores<\/strong> extend for a little under two kilometres<\/strong>, with fine, white<\/strong> sand<\/strong>, mixed with pebbles and shells<\/strong>. Rocks covered in red granite<\/strong> appear in some parts of the beach.
\nThe sea beds are shallow<\/strong> up to almost 20 metres from the water\u2019s edge and the area has an abundance of fish<\/strong> so much so that the stretch furthest north of the beach was known as \u201cmandra \u2018e pische<\/strong><\/em>\u201d, the \u201cfish enclosure<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

The beach<\/strong> with its dune system<\/strong>, holds back the wetland of the rio Berchida<\/strong>, which emerges into the central section of the sandy shores.
\nThe dunes<\/strong> are covered<\/strong> and buffered<\/strong> by the shrub vegetation with Juniperus macrocarpa<\/strong> and pine reforestation<\/strong>. The Pioneer vegetation is represented by the helichrysum<\/strong>, from the\u00a0lavender cotton on the beach<\/strong> and by the Crucianella marittima<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The river<\/strong> leads to the formation of two small ponds<\/strong> at the back of the beach, Sa Salinedda<\/strong> and Stagno di Berchida<\/strong>, surrounded by salt cedar<\/strong> and oleanders<\/strong>, natural<\/em> habitat<\/strong> of different species of animals and birds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Behind the beach, towards the mountain extends the woods with centuries-old juniper trees and Mediterranean shrub<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In summer, a kiosk-bar is set up on the beach<\/strong> together with<\/strong> swimming<\/strong> and parking facilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
