{"id":25627,"date":"2023-06-20T17:47:02","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T15:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/santa-barbara-woods\/"},"modified":"2023-06-23T15:42:34","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T13:42:34","slug":"santa-barbara-woods","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/santa-barbara-woods\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Barbara Woods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Santa Barbara Woods<\/strong> are situated in the area of <strong>Perdasdefogu<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Nuoro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>wooded area<\/strong> is home to a <strong>chapel<\/strong> dedicated to <strong>Santa Barbara<\/strong> and is fitted out with <strong>tables<\/strong>, <strong>barbecue areas<\/strong> and <strong>water fountains<\/strong>. There is also a<strong> children\u2019s play park<\/strong>, a small <strong>amphitheatre<\/strong> and a <strong>small courtyard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This area is also home to a <strong>Speleology School. <\/strong>The <strong>speleologists<\/strong> from the <strong>Federation of Sardinian Speleologists<\/strong> regularly come here to explore the caves, sometimes as yet undiscovered, with <strong>a limestone bottom<\/strong> in <strong>Perdasdefogu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>wood<\/strong> features <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> with plants of <strong>holm oak<\/strong>, <strong>strawberry trees<\/strong>, <strong>juniper<\/strong>, <strong>phillyrea<\/strong>, <strong>heather<\/strong>, <strong>wild rosemary<\/strong>, <strong>honeysuckle<\/strong>, <strong>rockrose<\/strong> and <strong>thyme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From a <strong>fauna<\/strong> point of view, there have been sightings of <strong>boar<\/strong>, the <strong>fox<\/strong>, the <strong>wild cat<\/strong>, the <strong>weasel<\/strong>, the <strong>porcupine<\/strong> and among the <strong>birds<\/strong>, the <strong>partridge<\/strong>, the <strong>barn owl<\/strong>, the <strong>falcon<\/strong> and the <strong>wood pigeon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The recreational area, which is the entrance to the wood, is next to the <strong>Bruncu Santoru Nature Reserve<\/strong>, another <strong>nature site<\/strong> worth mentioning in this part of Sardinia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":28306,"template":"","tipologia":[975,987],"categoria":[1022],"tematica":[1031],"class_list":["post-25627","place","type-place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tipologia-bosco-en","tipologia-parco-naturalistico-en","categoria-naturalistic-asset","tematica-nature"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Santa Barbara Woods - Idese<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/santa-barbara-woods\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_GB\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Santa Barbara Woods - Idese\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"The Santa Barbara Woods are situated in the area of Perdasdefogu, in the province of Nuoro.
