{"id":25584,"date":"2023-06-16T17:34:47","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T15:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/the-goceano-castle-or-burgos-castle\/"},"modified":"2023-06-21T09:52:44","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T07:52:44","slug":"the-goceano-castle-or-burgos-castle","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/the-goceano-castle-or-burgos-castle\/","title":{"rendered":"The Goceano castle or Burgos castle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Goceano<\/strong> Castle stands on a granite peak at the foot of which we find the town of Burgos.<\/p>\n<p>In the XII century, possibly in <strong>1134<\/strong>, the <strong>Giudice di Torres (Judicate of Logudoro)<\/strong> Gonario I de Lacon-Gunale had the castle built in order to patrol the borders of his giudicato.<\/p>\n<p>The castle was subject to different political episodes passing first under the power of the <strong>Genoese<\/strong>, the Doria family, in the XIV century the <strong>giudici d\u2019Arborea<\/strong> and lastly under the rule of the <strong>Aragonese<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The fortified structure extends across an <strong>uneven perimeter<\/strong>. The large, square-planned <strong>great tower<\/strong> spread across two floors of over 15 metres, stands above the internal courtyard.<\/p>\n<p>Access to an underground room which was probably a <strong>water cistern<\/strong> can be found in the <strong>internal courtyard<\/strong>.
