{"id":25452,"date":"2023-05-26T14:20:19","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T12:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/museo-del-tesoro-in-santeulalia\/"},"modified":"2023-08-21T10:44:34","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T08:44:34","slug":"museo-del-tesoro-in-santeulalia","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/museo-del-tesoro-in-santeulalia\/","title":{"rendered":"Museo del Tesoro in Sant\u2019Eulalia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Museo del Tesoro in Sant\u2019Eulalia<\/strong> houses a wealth of <strong>historical, artistic and archival heritage<\/strong> originating from <strong>churches in Sant\u2019Eulalia<\/strong>, <strong>the Santo Sepolcro<\/strong> and the destroyed <strong>church of Santa Lucia<\/strong>. The three buildings located in the <strong>Marina neighbourhood<\/strong>, belong to the parish of the same name. The valuable collection housed in the Museum includes silver, paintings, holy vestments, wooden statues and the parish\u2019s historical archive.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>paintings<\/strong> include the <em>Ecce<\/em> <em>Homo<\/em>, dating from the <strong>XVII century<\/strong>. The painting is <strong>double-sided<\/strong>: the figure of a flogged Jesus is painted on both sides of the canvas, with a perfect correspondence between the front and back images where we can see Christ\u2019s whipped back. The <strong>Madonna with Child<\/strong>, dating from the<strong> XIV century<\/strong> is also an important work.<\/p>\n<p>The collection of <strong>wooden sculptures<\/strong> makes up a considerable part of the Museum. The sculptures depict productions from a <strong>variety of cultures <\/strong>and most of them date back to the <strong>XVII-XVIII centuries<\/strong>. Some statues are also decorated using the invaluable technique of <strong><em>estofado de oro<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There is also an extensive collection of <strong>silver<\/strong> which was part of the parish\u2019s <strong>liturgical patrimony<\/strong>. The extent of the collection of lamps, crosses, chalices, pyxides and ostensories can be explained by the fact that they were commissioned by the <strong>Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament<\/strong>, a very wealthy Confraternity. \u00a0The collection of <strong>liturgical vestments<\/strong>, enhanced with quality embroidery is also worthy of mention.
